Specific Responsibilities
  • Lead and continuously evolve a comprehensive global privacy program, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while strengthening consumer trust and brand integrity.
  • Serve as the company’s Chief Privacy Officer and primary advisor on privacy, data protection, national security, cybersecurity, and information governance matters.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on the use, sharing, and monetization of consumer data, including data partnerships, digital advertising (ad tech), and emerging technologies.
  • Support the design, development, and launch of privacy-compliant products and services that drive revenue, particularly in streaming, digital platforms, and ad tech, including ensuring appropriate contractual protections and acquisition of necessary data rights.
  • Ensure compliance with global privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including U.S. federal and state laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, COPPA, VPPA, CAN-SPAM), as well as international frameworks, including Latin American privacy laws and GDPR.
  • Advise executive leadership and the Board on privacy risks, national security risks, regulatory developments, and mitigation strategies.
  • Partner closely with Information Security to align privacy and cybersecurity programs, including advising on vendor agreements, incident response, breach management, and leading or supporting tabletop exercises.
  • Oversee data governance frameworks, including data mapping, classification, retention, and cross-border data transfers.
  • Lead privacy impact assessments and embed privacy-by-design and default principles across systems, products, and processes.
  • Manage regulatory inquiries, investigations, audits, and relationships with data protection authorities.
  • Develop and lead enterprise-wide privacy training and awareness initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Senior Director/Counsel, Privacy, ensuring effective delivery of privacy counseling, policy development, and transactional support to business units managing consumer data, including the Company’s streaming services.
  • Oversee the Legal Operations function, including leadership of the Director of Legal Operations and Senior Billing Coordinator, to drive efficiency, scalability, and continuous improvement across legal processes, systems, and service delivery.
  • Lead the business management of the Legal function, including budgeting, financial planning, resource allocation, and help develop and execute the function’s short and long term operating plans, including performance metrics and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage outside counsel and third-party vendor relationships, including selection, performance management, and cost optimization.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the Legal department’s annual operating plan, ensuring strong financial stewardship and alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Maintain strong alignment with Government Affairs, including supporting contracting processes for consultants/vendors and engagement with regulators and government stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a highly strategic, commercially minded privacy leader with deep expertise in global dataprotection and technology law. They bring a proven ability to operate at scale within complex, data-drivenorganizations and will be comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

This individual is an influential leader with strong executive presence, capable of engaging effectively with seniorstakeholders, including the C-suite and Board. They combine sound judgment with a pragmatic approach, enablingthe business while appropriately managing risk.

They are also a builder, capable of developing high-performing teams, scaling organizational capabilities, and driving operational excellence within the Legal function. In terms of specific profile, the following background, experiences, and qualities are preferred:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing
  • 15+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on privacy, data protection, and technology law
  • Proven experience counseling on global privacy matters, including risks related to content streaming, consumer databases, and online advertising (ad tech)
  • Demonstrated success leading global privacy programs within complex, multinational organizations and digital and data-driven businesses
  • Ability to partner and engage with product and engineering teams
  • Significant and demonstrated experience with ad tech and OneTrust deployment across platforms
  • Expertise in US privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, COPPA, VPPA, CAN-SPAM, and emerging state laws) and international privacy frameworks, including Latin American privacy laws and GDPR
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or technology companies with direct-to-consumer or streaming platforms
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, data analytics, and evolving ad tech ecosystems
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives
  • Proven leadership experience managing senior teams and building high-performing organizations
  • Experience advising executive leadership and interacting with boards or board committees
  • Strong executive presence and exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
